CORIAN and Other Solid Surface FABRICATIONWe at Superior Laminates take pride in our work. When a customer has ordered a Corian counter we make an appointment to field measure or template the counter area. Notes are made as to backsplash height, sink style and location, and edge profile. Then we start fabrication in our shop. Corian and other solid surface products come to us in the form of a 1/2 inch x 30 inch x 144 inch sheet. Our technicians use plywood on the under side and build up the from edge. We offer many edge profiles with our solid surface counters. Among the most popular edges are 1/4 inch round over, small ogee, large ogee, roman ogee, or a bevel. Bull nose edges are also available but we do not recommend them where water is present due to the fact that water when spilled will follow the edge and drip into the cabinet below. Many kitchens have a pass through window into a family room or breakfast nook. Corian and solid surface counters can be routed to accommodate large and small radius corners. After fabrication is complete we make an appointment to deliver and install your new counter. Corian is a stain resistant and mold free solution to your counter needs. Avonite and other solid surface companies also offer LAMINATE COUNTER FABRICATION Our shop has been building laminate counters for over 20 years. We use all the major brands of laminate: Wilson Art, Formica, Nevamar, Pionite, Abet Laminate, Chemmetal. We have recently added to our line of options: Liri and Arborite. We offer square edge, bevel edge and wood edge counters. We can make radius corners and clipped corners. Generally we begin when a customer faxes us a rough sketch of the counter sizes they have it mind. Our manager, Pam, calls the customer on the phone with an estimate. An appointment for a field measure, or template, can be arranged when necessary. When the customer selects the laminate, whether Formica, WilsonArt or the others, we order it from a distributor. The laminate arrives in our shop in sheets, anywhere from 36 x 96 inches up to 60 x 144 inches. Our technicians start with 3/4 inch particle board, build up the edges with strips of particle board so the counter will be 1 1/2 inches thick. Then the lamination begins. The edges are laminated first, then the deck or top. The technicians are careful when they route and file so the edges are not sharp. Backsplashes are fabricated using a similar proceedure. Because we are a custom casework fabricator we can make any size spash the customer needs. Anywhere from a 1 inch piece for your tile to sit on up to full height spashes. Often customers pick up the counters here at our shop.
